Choosing a reconstitution solution

Lyophilized peptides are shipped as dry powder and must be dissolved before use in the laboratory. The diluent you choose affects solubility and how long a reconstituted vial can be used.

Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which limits bacterial growth after the stopper is punctured. It suits most peptides and is the default choice when a vial will be accessed several times.

Acetic acid water is a 0.6% acetic acid solution for peptides that dissolve poorly at neutral pH. Check the data for your compound before choosing it. Both solutions are supplied in sealed 10ml vials.
